KIS(cubed) Events is a boutique luxury brand event, production, and design firm that specializes in offering a one-of-a-kind event experience. Since established in 2006, Founder and Chief Experience Officer Nijary Desai has produced incredible experiences from corporate events to weddings. Based in Atlanta, GA, Desai thrives in adding a unique touch to every affair.
With only two week’s notice, KIS(cubed) planned a successful first-ever South Asian Experience Event hosted by 1497 at the renowned Sundance Film Festival from Jan. 20 to Jan. 22. KIS(cubed) planned the event with everything from decor to entertainment to food while empowering South Asian professionals in the film industry and celebrating the advancement of South Asian creatives.
The three-day celebration was the first-ever South Asian Lodge event hosted in Utah at The Shop, a Park City yoga studio. KIS (cubed) created a space for the “Black and Brown Unity and Division, On and Off Screen” panel, which encouraged both established and emerging film industry professionals with encouragement and support. During the event, celebrated the 20th-anniversary of “Bend It Like Beckham,” which premiered at Sundance in 2003 marking a milestone for South Asian representation in film.
KIS(cubed) sought to highlight South Asian culture by staging and designing a space for the 1497 Sundance Event, which encompassed a warm and vibrant mood. The design sought to highlight South Asian culture in a sophisticated way by creating a modern mood utilizing a vibrant color palette, lighting, an assortment of textures, lighting and greenery. Lighting consisted of modern and natural light with high ceilings where staging and dinner took place. Mustard yellow, pink, green, auburn, beige/light pink, and black flowed throughout each design. These colors were also present within floral arrangements and lavish tablescapes. A lively first impression took place by way of a photo op wall and green room including a vinyl wrap backdrop and green mylar fringing.
The purpose of 1497’s event was reflected in the KIS(cubed) team’s design and execution. Working in conjunction with the nonprofit, KIS(cubed) Events created a welcoming environment for the South Asian community and their diverse group of allies through modern and stylish pieces. The successful implementation of 1497’s values into the South Asian Experience design left a lasting impact on the audience.
Since 1497 and the South Asian Experience highlighted successful minorities throughout a modern industry, the female, South Asian-led KIS(cubed) team incorporated designs that accentuated both modern and traditional elements. This juxtaposition laid the foundation for the entire three-day event.
Although the South Asian Lodge was the first of its kind, its success will leave a lasting impression on the Sundance audience and embodies the hard work and sophisticated approach that is authentic to KIS(cubed). The team can’t wait to see what’s in store for the event next year!
