Case Study: International Poverty Forum Hosted by Caring For Others
About
Caring For Others is an international human services organization that aims to eradicate global poverty.
With a mission to restore hope and dignity to individuals and families impacted by poverty, Caring For Others provides food, clothing, and a continuum of services to families struggling with the effects of a natural disaster, impoverished circumstances, and temporary misfortune.
Hosted by Caring For Others, the International Poverty Forum (IPF) is a solutions-driven “think tank” that brings the best and brightest minds together to address global poverty. By uniting a diverse group of thought leaders from around the world, ideas are turned into action. The event encompasses a full-day forum that encompasses thought leaders and celebrity keynote speakers, while highlighting Caring for Others’ sponsors, supporters, and its mission. The forum also entails a cocktail party after the forum for all attendees to mingle and discuss the mission of the non-profit.
Objectives/Challenges
The International Poverty Forum’s objectives include raising awareness of the struggles of poverty, as well as eradicating its effects through the sponsorship of Caring for Others’ non-profit mission. KIS (cubed)’s team was tasked with staging and designing the forum space that would support the presence of thought leaders, celebrities, and sponsors. In addition, the design and staging of the environment were required to highlight sponsors’ branding.
Because the forum was a full-day event at Atlanta’s Porsche Headquarters and included a large audience and established keynote speakers, KIS(cubed)’s team was tasked with designing a staging a venue that spans across separate rooms, lounges, and included a post-forum cocktail party with its own design layout and needs. The design had to highlight the non-profit’s goals while also creating a space that would support communal discussions in a semi-corporate environment.
Solutions/Achievements
At the Forum, more than $150,000, in addition to $40,000 of in-kind donations, was raised. The International Poverty Forum provided a platform to discover and act on poverty solutions and served as a motivator for Caring for Others’ efforts in Atlanta. Through working in conjunction with Eslene Richmond-Shockley and Caring for Others, KIS(cubed) created a luxurious, thought-provoking environment for the attendees.
The event secured national sponsors, such as Truist Bank, UPS, Trulieve, Anheuser-Busch, Global Payments, and Georgia Power. Through KIS(cubed)’s design highlighting Caring for Others’ branding with incorporated colors (Navy Blue, Burnt Orange, Sunflower Yellow, White, and Gold), the mission of the event was clear to the event’s comprehensive attendance of corporations, individuals, and celebrities including: Pro Football and College Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, Christian Music Icon Amy Grant and Heisman Trophy Winner Tim Tebow, in addition to Former Foreign Minister of Guyana Carl Greenidge, Former United Nations World Food Programme Executive Director Dr. Ertharin Cousin, Global Payments Chief Strategist Officer Frank Young and Best-Selling Author and Values-aligned Investor Janine Firpo.
The forum’s design and layout created a dialogue among its keynote speakers and was successful in its mission to raise awareness of Caring for Others and its goals. The inclusion of special guests’ holding rooms to maintain a sense of privacy for the celebrity speakers and a separate lounge for journalists to congregate and hold interviews allowed for the renown speakers to feel comfortable and prepare for the upcoming discussion. The cocktail party’s luxurious nature and inclusion of tasteful catering and design included Caring for Others’ handouts made for a wind-down space that encouraged its guests to leave the event with the desire and materials to learn more about the non-profit’s goals.
In addition, KIS(cubed) Events was a sponsor for the forum while planning the event’s success. The International Poverty Forum’s ability to raise the most funds since its origination is a testament to KIS(cubed)’s hard work and dedication.
